10 Things We Learned From Nail In The Coffin: The Fall And Rise Of Vampiro

8. He Was A Rock Star

In Nail in the Coffin, Chavo Guerrero Jr. is the first to refer to Vampiro's rise to stardom as being like the arrival of a rock star. Seeing the footage back of those early days, the presence of Vampiro is an electric one as fans lose their minds whenever the charismatic Canadian appears.

Watching women screaming at the mere sight of Vampiro hits home that this guy was like The Beatles in the way that just him being in an arena brought an unbridled, uncontrollable outpouring of emotion from fans - in particular female fans.

As wrestler Ricky Marvin puts it:

There hadn’t been a wrestler that did what he did, that sparked off what he did in fans.”

While Marvin says these words, Nail in the Coffin intersects shots of venues packed with Vampiro posters, of young women staring gooey-eyed at Vampiro, of fans adorned in Vampiro face paint, and even showing the reaction people have to seeing Vampiro in the modern-day.

Again, it's hard to fully describe the impact that Vampiro had and has on the wrestling community in Mexico. Whether that's as a rising star of the business, as a fully-formed icon, as a wily veteran performer, or as a Director of Talent - Vampiro has reached a level of popularity that few in the wrestling business have ever seen.
