10 Things We Learned From NJPW At Korakuen Hall

6. They Let You Bring Your Own Booze!

You know what it’s like when you go to a wrestling show. You get to the lobby of the arena, all excited. You decide to have a few drinks to lubricate the enjoyment only to find out that you need to re-mortgage your house in order to buy a crappy beer. Well, not in Korakuen Hall.

We were walking to the arena just before the show and saw a bunch of people that looked like they were going to a wrestling show but they all had plastic bags full of cans of beer. “They can’t be going to the event,” I kept thinking to myself whilst following them. “They are going to turn away any minute now.”

We got in the lift in the building. “It’s a big building, they must be going somewhere else.” We then stepped out of the lift and walked straight through the ticket check without a single question asked. I immediately turned around, walked out of the arena and ran straight to the nearest Lawson convenience store to buy a pack of beer.

And it’s a good job I did too. The beer in the venue was obviously ridiculously expensive but unlike any venue I’ve ever been to in the UK or USA, THEY CLOSED THE BAR HALF WAY THROUGH THE EVENT! What is this crazy world they live in?
