It's easy to see why Roman thought this one, given Bryan's relentless popularity, and the toxic reaction to his underwhelming elimination from the Royal Rumble. Instead, Reigns was booked to go over Bryan at the following PPV - and even became the first man to kick out of his signature running knee. It didn't exactly improve the attitude of many fans, especially if his extremely negative reception at WrestleMania 31 was anything to go by. In a strange way, WWE made the right decision. While a Bryan vs. Lesnar clash at 'Mania would almost certainly have been more popular, they would have pushed Bryan back into the main event mere weeks before the return of his injury woes. Instead, Roman was given a chance to prove himself on the biggest stage of them all - a chance he would have missed out on had things gone the way he suspected.
