7. Ryback Knew Winning The Intercontinental Championship Was A Bad Sign

Longtime WWE fans will remember when winning the Intercontinental Championship was seen as a career-making moment. The Ultimate Warrior at SummerSlam '88, Bret Hart at SummerSlam '91, Razor Ramon at WrestleMania X, Steve Austin at SummerSlam '97 and even Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 31 was supposed to revitalise the title, but that didn't work out exactly as planned.

Well, when Ryback won it in May of 2015, he thought something was up and not in a good way.

Coincidentally enough, Ryback won the title after it was vacated by Daniel Bryan following WrestleMania 31. Instead of celebrating that Ryback had just won his first championship in WWE, Reeves felt curious about the situation and wondered why the company decided to put the belt on him now after seemingly having no direction for him for months.

As it turns out, according to Reeves, this was only done to try and appease him since his contract would be coming up soon. Had the Intercontinental Championship been half as valuable as it was in the 80s and 90s, the title could've increased Ryback's value whether he chose to re-sign with WWE or not, but in 2015, the title was a damn near curse and Ryback knew it.
