Born on March 17, 1979, a young Samoa Joe was only 13 years old when Vince McMahon and the WWF launched Monday Night Raw in January, 1993. Joe was a fan before the prime time show debuted though, and would often watch episodes of WWF Superstars each Saturday with his father.

That wrestling TV time was vital in forging a relationship between father and son, because Joe didn't have much in common with his dad. Possessing different tastes when it came to television, sports and entertainment generally, the act of sitting down to watch wrestling together became a crucial bonding tool for the family members.

For that very reason, the future WWE star always looked forward to Monday nights and Saturday afternoons, because he knew he'd get to chill out and find some common ground with his father without arguing about their differences. Raw in particular helped bring Joe and his dad closer.
