Arriving on WWE's "main roster" is supposed to be a blessing for any NXT worker. Of course, history has told us that it can be a curse - Sasha certainly braced herself for disaster when she first prepped for debuting on Raw back in 2015. She knew it wasn't going to be an easy ride.

In fact, Banks thought it'd be toil and "three-minute matches". She was no fool, and she had experience of WWE's resistance towards her vision for women's wrestling. Sasha reminded Austin that she'd been working house shows for a good year on the road before that Raw bow, and she sometimes had to dress up in "little skirts" (or Santa outfits on Christmas shows) because of the Diva tag.

She loathed that.

Banks' very words were, “This is not NXT”, and you might not be wrestling how you were wrestling on NXT”. She was absolutely bang on the money there. Things didn't properly change for around six months or so. It was tough behind the scenes too...
