4. Shawn Is Pretty Scathing When It Comes To The Fans

It is clear from the podcast that Shawn Michaels is not a fan of professional wrestling.

Actually, that may be a little harsh, but his love for the business doesn't seem to hit the heights that it does for most within it. This may be a good thing in hindsight, as Michaels may very well be the only major name to walk away with plenty in the tank and on his terms.

One group he is pretty scathing of, and particularly their inability to walk away, is the fans. Russo and Michaels talk about modern crowds, of 50/50 chanting, catering to internet fans and the plummeting ratings.

The chat really comes to the fore in the aftermath of the Reigns discussion, and Michaels' view on the business is interesting to say the least.

According to Michaels, WWE's bottom line is money and money alone. He goes on to point out that the term 'fan' comes from 'fanatic', that obsession and love are very different things. He talks of WWE not respecting their audience, and makes the fair point that the reason for this might be that the company knows the audience will alway be there.

The fans complain and complain, but never leave. This is why the WWE doesn't respect the audience, according to The Heartbreak Kid.
