In 2008, Michaels spent the majority of the year embroiled in a blood feud with Chris Jericho.

The beef is fondly remembered as one of the greatest of the modern age if not of all-time, a violent and aggressive grudge between two of the greatest performers in the history of the sport.

Russo and Michaels don't labour on the point too much, but HBK mentions that the whole thing came about by chance. Michaels and Jericho were supposed to have a one-off match and that would be that. The crowd responded more than favourably to that bout, and the decision was made to put them in a longer programme together.

There wasn't much prepared for it, however, so Michaels and Jericho were allowed to construct their own story and run with it. Michaels remarks that he wasn't too aware of what was going on in truth, that he would turn up every week and have to remind himself of what had happened.

It sounds as if Jericho was the true driver behind that infamous wheel.
