3. Shawn's Dad Warned Vince McMahon Backstage

One request Shawn Michaels had lodged prior to 'Mania was that WWE accommodate his parents for the event. Vince McMahon was happy to oblige, and he didn't mind Shawn's father being in the room when he went to thank Michaels for his contributions and promise him that the company would stand by him should he retire.

As any father would in such a situation, Shawn's dad chipped in.

An old military man, he warned McMahon that he'd come looking for him if anything happened to his son. It's rather odd to think of Vince, the single most powerful presence in pro wrestling, being verbally cut down to size by someone's dad.

Conrad Thompson found the idea bizarre, and he rightly pointed out that the wrestling community would have a field day had it been Buff Bagwell's mother doing the stern parenting backstage at a show. Prichard blew that off and said Shawn's dad was only looking out for his best interests.
