10 Things We Learned From Speaking To Orlando Colón

8. The Puerto Rican Playboys

Oh dear.

The idea of having Primo and Epico positioned as two mysterious attackers laying waste to the roster somehow morphed into an idea where the pair would instead become a mash-up of Playboy mogul Hugh Hefner and three-time Intercontinental Champion Goldust. Quite the combination, no?

With Primo and Epico envisioning that this gimmick change would show them as "two badasses from Miami, Puerto Rican, well dressed, like ass kickers," instead they were presented with a gimmick which Orlando compared to being as bad as those recently leaked images of what WWE planned to do to The Revival.

To be dubbed The Puerto Rican Playboys, Orlando explained, "We were going to be Hugh Hefner. We had the Hugh Hefner robe. We were gonna be a mixture between Goldust and Hugh Hefner. It was black and gold wrestling gear, with coins with large faces that said Puerto Rican Playboys."

Despite plans to debut the gimmick the following week, Vince changed his mind after deciding that The Puerto Rican Playboys could be too sexual an act for PG television. But while The Puerto Rican Playboys concept was dropped, the Colón cousins were instead rebranded as time share salesmen known as The Shining Stars.

Upon being informed of this latest gimmick change, Orlando put it, "At that moment, it was just, 'You know what, let's just phone it in, man.' Let's just get paid and we'll be on our way out. We're better off out of here."
