It should come as no surprise to anyone that has followed Steve Austin's career that the Rattlesnake is not a huge fan of extensive ha-ha, or comedy wrestling. Unfortunately, that's what the WWE Tag Team Championship match was used for at SummerSlam when WWE incorporated Jon Stewart into the New Day vs. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson title match.

Austin spoke of the abilities of both Gallows and Anderson as being great, serious wrestlers. Steve also mentioned how he had seen some of their stuff from Japan when they were part of the Bullet Club, and how they were two tough and rugged individuals. So, in Austin's opinion, putting these two serious workers into a comedy segment, even if it did feature celebrity Jon Stewart, was doing a disservice to these two.

Austin felt that Gallows and Anderson were not put into a position to succeed by the powers that be and it resulted in a disappointing match. Hard to argue that one.
