Undoubtedly, Steve Austin's favorite match of the evening was the AJ Styles vs. John Cena encounter which Austin called an "instant classic".

Austin has reviewed previous events under the WWE umbrella, including the two recent events that featured The Phenomenal One in the main events wrestling Roman Reigns for the WWE Championship. It was in those two matches, at Extreme Rules and Payback, respectively, where Austin really seemed to gain an appreciation for AJ Styles and the type of performances he is capable of delivering.

Previously, Austin had compared Styles to Shawn Michaels and the compliments continued during Austin's review of AJ's first SummerSlam match. AJ's intensity and "extra gear" were mentioned with Styles really displaying a fire that Austin appreciated.

As for Cena, Austin has always complimented the hard work of WWE's flagship performer and, according to Austin, SummerSlam 2016 was another example of how great John truly is. Austin paid Cena a high compliment by stating that John has had great matches with everyone he has worked with that was capable of it.

The longtime dream match of AJ Styles vs. John Cena on the grand stage of SummerSlam was favorited by many with Steve Austin being at the top of the list.
