10 Things We Learned From The FCW Documentary
5. Bray Wyatt Was Born In FCW
Seeing the success and popularity of ‘The Fiend’ in current WWE is a far cry from the original introduction of Windham Rotunda in WWE. Initially debuting in 2010 as Nexus member Husky Harris, he didn’t exactly resonate with the audience. While remaining impressive in the ring for someone of that build, the husky one left a lot to be desired and quickly went back to developmental.
While in FCW, and under the watchful eye of Dusty Rhodes, Windham tried to deliver darker promos and quickly evolved into the Eater of Worlds that went on to be a mainstay of WWE programming until last year, when his current incarnation of the Bray Wyatt character took macabre to a new level.
This highlights just how important Dusty’s encouragement for talent to create characters for themselves was. FCW was removed enough from WWE that it was a safe space for creativity to flow, and for trainees to try new personas until the right one developed.
