An injury suffered by Sid Vicious opened up 'Taker's first real opportunity in the NWA. He was brought in as Dan Spivey's new partner in The Skyscrapers, and the promotion geared the team up for a scrap with The Road Warriors at Clash Of The Champions X. That's when things got real.

Spivey, who wasn't happy with the match build, grabbed a chair and beat the crap out of Hawk and Animal.

Backstage, the future 'Deadman' sat on the edge of his seat in the locker room expecting to throw hands with his face-painted opponents. He was totally shocked though when Hawk and Animal strolled in, shook Spivey's hand, thanked him for getting some heat on them and said 'Taker had done well for someone so green too.

When they left, Dan looked over and winked at his younger partner. The Undertaker realised then than Spivey was respected as a tough guy in the industry, and not even hard-nosed brawlers like The Road Warriors were willing to mess with him.
