A common criticism of broadcasts that fall right before pay-per-views is that they often fail to serve their true purpose of effectively selling the event at the final opportunity.

Often with so many rivalries or issues to touch on, there are accusations of neglecting key areas and thus failing both the performer and the stature of the show itself.

Last year's Brand Extension may have shown yet more positive signs though, with this edition of Monday Night Raw having fiercely clear direction throughout and covering every storyline, major or minor.

Though The New Day remain lost souls in their reduced roles as WrestleMania 'hosts', even they were smartly employed to give a last minute babyface rub to Austin Aries as he prepares for the most high profile match of his career.

Segments for the top level matches were kept short, leaving plenty for the 'Showcase of the Immortals' itself, whilst focus on Anderson and Gallows, Sami Zayn and The Big Show were well placed to add genuine focus to their WrestleMania goals.

The debate will rage about which brand has brought more to this year's card, but Monday Night Raw's creative and crew did everything they could to give every contest one final-leg up.
