10 Things We Learned From Vince McMahon On Pat McAfee’s Podcast

2. The Reason ‘Mania 38 Is “Stupendous”

If you've been wondering why WrestleMania 38 is being called "stupendous", then this is the entry for you. It's pretty simple; Vince told everyone tuning into the show that he adores branding and marketing. He's also a sucker for things that WWE has never really used before.

Hence..."stupendous".

That word was picked for this year's weekender because it's something fresh for the company. Also, McMahon likes how grand it sounds when said out loud, and gets a kick out of the fact that some fans will have to look the word up. If they do that, then they probably won't forget what it means.

These tiny reasons explain the emphasis on "stupendous" throughout WWE's promotion for the 2-3 April double header. It's a superficial way to make 'Mania 38 stand out from previous iterations of the same event. "Stupendous", in this context, is WWE speak. It's another version of, "Showcase Of The Immortals", albeit less memorable.
