As stated in a prior entry, WWE raked in $930 million throughout 2018. That massive number has television to thank for being so high. Last year, TV rights accounted for an incredible 73% of the money, and that number is expected to rise after WWE signed fresh agreements with both FOX and NBCU (USA Network).

It cannot be overstated just how critical TV rights are to WWE's day-to-day operations.

Variety points out that WWE once viewed television as a means to push their live events business. These are changed days; in 2019, the promotion seem more concerned with tying up guaranteed funds for programming that put less pressure on turning that into cash-through-sales at the gate.

Not only are rising rights fees helping WWE's stock prices, they're also (according to Horizon Media investment officer David Campanelli) changing how the company are viewed by potential advertisers. Again, all of this can only aid McMahon's crusade to make even more money.
