10 Things We Learned From Vince Russo On Stone Cold's Podcast
7. And Neither Does Vince Russo
Oddly, the Attitude Era isn't Vince Russo's favourite period in wrestling era either!
Stone Cold asks Vince Russo his own preferred time in sports entertainment, wrongly assuming it would be the era that made his career, taking him from a contributor to the company magazine to one of the most influential writers in the sport's history.
In contrast, Russo name checks Bruno Sammartino and Bob Backlund as personal influences and says that his favourite time were the early Wrestlemanias, from one to three in particular. He calls these years the greatest in professional wrestling.
Rather than the trash-talking Austin and the catchphrase creating Rock, this was a time when Hulk Hogan, Andre The Giant and Rowdy Roddy Piper ruled the main event scene, a far cry from the type of product which would make Russo's name over ten years later.
He says the only reason he continues to discuss the Attitude Era at such length is because he was involved with it and therefore feels like he has an authority to do so.
