10 Things We Learned From William Regal On Talk Is Jericho (Part 2)

9. Baby Regal Loved The Heels

William Regal Talk Is Jericho
WWE

Regal recalled watching wrestling with his grandfather when he was only seven years old. Together, they'd sit in front of the telly and watch World Of Sport; the day's football results flashed across the bottom of the screen, but a young William wasn't interested in any of that.

He was too busy loving the "character heels".

Men like Mick McManus and 'Cyanide' Sid Cooper stood out to Regal. He didn't know it back then, but those workers also shaped his own in-ring style, and taught him that it was fine for wrestling villains to look foolish if they also got their licks in and knew when to elicit heat from audiences.

Fans will remember Regal's superior psychology and willingness to make himself look like an idiot if it fit the situation/match/angle. That was actually something he learned as a kid before ever taking a bump or lacing up a pair of boots.

The man will never forget those boyhood sessions with his grandad.
