10 Things We Learned From William Regal On Talk Is Jericho

1. Doctors Feared For His Life

Where to start?!

Regal was diagnosed with pericarditis in 1998. That's an inflammation of the sack around your heart, and it can be really dangerous. Of course, despite having a broken neck and a troubled heart, William kept wrestling a full-time schedule for another decade plus.

Eventually, things got bad. Really, really bad. Between 2018-2019, Regal almost lost his leg (due to sepsis that had set in) and had to get his neck seen to. It was far from a routine operation for either though - docs told William's wife that he probs had 24 hours to live if didn't cut off his leg, and only a series of last-minute injections saved the limb.

On top of that, Regal had to suffer through hours of doctors draining spinal fluid from his body for eight gruelling days. "I was screaming - it was serious stuff". The British wrestling icon was in a bad way and thought for sure he was going to die. All of the nerves in his body were going crazy, and the pain was excruciating throughout each session.

As Jericho said towards the end of the pod, thank God his friend is still here.
