10 Things We Learned From WWE 24: Drew McIntyre
9. He Watched A Tough Enough VHS Constantly
Fans in their 30s may recall Triple H's bold speech to flabbergasted rookies during the very first Tough Enough series in 2001. 'The Game' warned the aspiring trainees that life as a pro wrestler was immensely difficult, and spoke passionately about the dedication required to even come close to making dreams a reality.
Drew was hanging on every word.
He showed off an old storage cupboard in the house he'd grown up in back home in Ayr, Scotland. In it, there were loads of old wrestling VHS tapes, including Tough Enough. McIntyre revealed that he watched that tape "to death", and it was Trips' rah-rah speech that particularly struck a chord with him.
Teenage Drew could never have know that he'd one day share a locker room with Hunter, or come to lean on him as a mentor. That tape was a daily reminder of the sacrifices he'd have to make if he wanted to become a wrestler.
