10 Things We Learned From WWE 24: Edge

4. Edge Told AEW He Must Talk To Vince First

Though the company is never mentioned by name during WWE's documentary, it doesn't take a genius to figure out who Edge was referring to when he said "another wrestling company" wanted to sign him after SummerSlam. Obviously, he was talking about Tony Khan's AEW.

Their interest piqued Edge's, but he wanted to give Vince McMahon proper respect. So, he told AEW that he'd talk business with WWE first - the Canadian claims he wasn't trying to start "some bidding war" for his services. Edge didn't even know if he was a dead cert to wrestle again, and he only wanted to hear McMahon out because the WWE leader had always looked out for him.

Vince, as one might suspect, said any return had to happen in WWE.

There's merit to that. As special as seeing Edge in All Elite would've been (the guy's fans would've settled for anything), it could never have held a candle to that resplendent Royal Rumble return. McMahon was absolutely right.
