10 Things We Learned From WWE 24: Raw 25
2. WWE Tested A Miz Babyface Turn In Manhattan
WWE must have known that fans in Manhattan (who, being honest, had been starved of action and forced to watch much of the simulcast on a big screen) would be happy to see The Miz. He had just dethroned the unpopular Roman Reigns at Barclays to become the new Intercontinental Champion.
A "Thank You Miz" chant broke out as soon as he entered the arena, and that's when Miz decided he was going to see how far he could hint at a babyface turn. Keep in mind none of this was broadcast live on air, so Miz, heel or not, could pretty much do what he wanted.
Besides, WWE hadn't exactly given him much direction.
Miz decided to let fans join in on his, "when my hand goes up your mouth goes shut" catch phrase and generally have a ball. In his own words, he felt accepted by hardcore wrestling fans for the first time in his career, and it was a landmark moment for him personally.
Awesome (sorry).
