Jeff was arrested on 11 September 2009 and charged with the trafficking of prescription pills and possession of other substances like anabolic steroids. Although he'd already left WWE by that point, the media whipped themselves into a frenzy by namedropping the company and tut-tutting at Jeff's behaviour.

Around one year later, Jeff would plead guilty to the charges and eventually spend 10 days in jail between 3-13 October 2011. Those were the longest 10 nights of Jeff Hardy's life to date, but things could have been much worse.

At one point, Jeff believed he'd be going to jail for "50 years".

Spending 23 hours per day in the same room drove Jeff crazy; only allowed out for one hour to watch television, he'd spend the rest of the time pacing back and forth in his cell or drawing pictures with the pencils and paper provided to him.

Some of that artwork, including quotes like "I will never take my freedom for granted again", were shown on the WWE 24 special.
