10 Things We Learned From WWE's Q2 2016 Earnings

8. Network Number

Still, despite the dip in the underlying profits, one area of the company financial reports that makes for far better reading is in the WWE Network numbers.

After WrestleMania saw the Network subscriber count peak at 1.82 million, the WWE would eventually finish the quarter on 1.56 million subscribers. Admittedly, that may sound like a fairly significant drop. But if we look at the count from across the whole period, we’ll see that the average number of paid subscribers was a very respectable 1.52 million.

That number is actually bang in line with their earlier projections of approximately 1.5 million for Q2, so clearly they’re getting to grips with the workings behind a subscription model.

But still, noting that the outcome was in line with projections doesn’t quite do the figure justice. An average of 1.52 million paid subscribers is in fact higher than any other previous quarter, and as a point of comparison, last year’s Q2 actually saw a decline in total Network paid subscriptions.

Whichever way you slice it; that Network number is looking pretty positive.
