7. Paid Network Subscribers

And another way in which we can slice that number is by paid versus unpaid subscribers.

Unfortunately, we don’t have that paid vs. unpaid split for the average subscriber number, but we do have it for the ending subscriber number of 1.56 million.

And of those 1.56 million, a whopping 1.51 million were paying a monthly subscription fee, as opposed to accessing the Network via a free introductory trial. That means the share of subscribers who are now fully-paying is up to 97%, a noticeable increase on the 92% from the previous quarter.

In fact, 97% represents the highest proportion of paid subscribers since the introduction of the free trial, suggesting that users are actually seeing enough value in the service to either upgrade from a free membership to a paid one, or perhaps they’re simply diving straight in and paying for access from the get-go.

Either way, that rise in the proportion of paid subscribers, combined with the increase in overall subscribers, means that the Network is now bringing in more money that it’s ever done before, with revenues of $45.9 million from subscriptions alone.
