10 Things We Learned From WWE Hall Of Fame 2017 Induction Ceremony
9. DDP And Randy Savage Shared A Tender Moment
One of the greatest feuds in WCW history revolved around Randy Savage and Diamond Dallas Page. On screen, it was a brutal battle that saw both men deliver great matches and allowed DDP to become a top-level babyface in what was, at the time, the most popular wrestling company in the world. Off screen, however, both men had great respect for each other, and Savage took a special interest in trying to help DDP reach that next level.
DDP was so grateful for Savage's help that on Thanksgiving of 1997, he called "Macho Man" to let him know just how much it all meant to him. He ended up leaving a voicemail for Savage, and didn't expect to hear anything in response. Instead, when he got to the next show, Savage took him aside, played the message back several times, and told him how much it meant to him - he even played it for his father, pro wrestler Angelo Poffo. After that, Savage gave DDP what Page described as the hardest hug of his life.
