10 Things We Learned From WWE’s Undertaker: The Last Ride (Final Chapter)
7. 'Taker Told His Dad Make Up Was His "War Mask"
Mushy? Screw that.
During chapter five, 'Taker reminisced about inviting his dad along to a Raw taping in "the old Summit" in Houston back in the mid-90s. Calaway Sr shadowed his boy backstage all day, and was pretty taken when he watched Mark get ready for that evening's performance.
After asking several questions about the big boots his son was wearing and the trademark hat, dad screwed up his face. Mark had started to put on some eye make up, and there was a moment of jokey machismo between both men; they both got a giggle out of what 'Taker described as his "war mask".
Later, dad told son he was proud of him. That meant the world to 'Taker, because he knew his father hadn't always approved of his decision to walk away from a basketball scholarship to pursue his pro wrestling dreams. He felt a sense of pride wash over him, one that's visible through his beaming smile in old pics shown on screen.
