10 Things We Learned From 'Young Bucks: Killing The Business From Backyards To The Big Leagues'
8. Mr. BYWA's Big First Impression
Having taken on the gimmick of Mr. BYWA once the Backyard Wrestling Association became a thing, Matt Jackson began to develop quite the ego.
As he and pal Dustin Bogle made their way to Ron Rivera's Rudos Dojo to continue to learn their craft, one of the most impressive high-risk moves in the game was deemed a good way to make a mark. Turning up late to their first session, Dustin entered the ring and properly introduced himself to everyone there, shaking hands along the way. For Matt, he had a slightly different way of making a first impression.
From Killing the Business:
"Between my success as a backyard wrestler and my new looks, I thought of myself as a big deal. After Dustin finished properly meeting everyone, I stepped onto the apron and began climbing the ropes until I ended up on the top rope. I stood there perched and gestured for everyone to please move back. Everyone returned my order with shocked looks. With the space that I needed now available, I jumped straight into the air and did a Shooting Star Press - which is a forward-moving backflip - and stuck the landing perfectly. Then, and only then, did I stick my hand out and introduce myself to every person in the ring. 'Nice to meet you, my name is Mr. BYWA,' I said."
Matt then explains how every single person bar one gave him a death stare for this brash and bold introduction. The one person who didn't? That would be the future Scorpio Sky.
