10 Things We Learned Listening To Jesse Ventura On Steve Austin's Podcast

9. The Reason Why Jesse Didn't Move To Hollywood

Jesse told a story of how years ago, Arnold Schwarzenegger askedhim when he was going to "move to LA and become one of the boys," to which Jesse responded by asking a question about the public school system.

Arnold said that all celebrities sent their children to private schools. Jesse took that to mean that the public schools in Los Angeles were so bad that no celebrity would dare send their children there.

This was the primary reason Jesse remained in Minnesota which had award-winning public schools. Jesse believes his children were better raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota than they would ever have been be out in Hollywood.

Jesse decided to stay in Minnesota, and as a result he likely lost out on several Hollywood roles by not being able to do the dinners and the meetings.

As it turned out, Jesse's son succeeded in TV too. Tyrel (of Jesse's famous WrestleMania shout-outs to Terry, Tyrel, and Jade) was an assistant to Academy Award winning actor Sean Penn for three years. Sean taught Tyrel the ropes of Hollywood, and Tyrel would eventually get nominated for an Emmy and currently has a show on Russian television called Watching The Hawks.
