10 Things You Should Miss About ECW
7. Taz As A Wrestler
It has been a long time since Taz set foot in the ring as a wrestler, and that's fine - time and injuries take their toll on everyone. That said, younger WWE fans may not even remember Taz, who had been working over at TNA until recently, or simply remember him as an announcer.
And that's a shame. Taz was one of the first ECW originals to really experience cross-over success, especially when he moved to the WWE and went into a great program against Kurt Angle. Before that, however, Taz, who very much looks the part of the Tasmanian Devil, also had a great run in ECW.
He put on some terrific matches with the likes of Sabu and RVD, and became known as the Human Suplex Machine. He was such a breakout star that TNN insisted ECW retain him when they got into business with the company (though that never panned out).
Interestingly, Taz was also one of the first wrestlers to utilize a submission - the Tazmission - that forced opponents to tap out MMA style rather than to verbally submit or nod the head, something that other promotions soon picked up on.
As an innovator and in-ring worker, Taz the wrestler is very much missed.
