When rumours first started circulating about a potential mixed tag bout pitting John Cena and Nikki Bella against The Miz and Maryse, it was difficult to find anyone with any great enthusiasm for a match like that at WrestleMania.

But thanks to The Miz and John Cena’s promo skills, this one’s somehow shaping up to be one of the juiciest rivalries on the WrestleMania card, should it lead to an inter-gender tag match as expected.

That being said, the writers have backed themselves into a corner a bit with this one, as far as the post-match fallout is concerned.

With Miz making multiple references to Cena’s relationship with Nikki and the sore subject of their lack of any engagement plans, not to mention the fact that Nikki’s allegedly taking time off after WrestleMania, you get the impression that this one pretty much has to end with the feel-good moment of Cena proposing to Nikki after the match.

Besides, how else are they going to fill the next season of Total Divas?

While they’re no Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth, and a post-match proposal segment may be corny as all hell, it’s difficult to imagine anything else given the context surrounding this one.
