10 Things We Need To See At WrestleMania 33
4. Kevin Owens Beats Chris Jericho
In one of this year’s more eagerly anticipated showdowns, the former best friends of Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens will finally meet at WrestleMania in United States Championship action.
As well as providing a blow off to what’s been a brilliant angle, this one’s also great news for the US title itself—a belt that’s only been defended twice since Jericho won it more than two months ago.
Focusing on the eventual result, though, and as crushing as it will be for Jericho after the way in which the Festival of Friendship went down, Owens really needs to be leaving ‘Mania with the title around his waist.
For starters, he's in need of some kind of consolation prize after the embarrassment of losing the Universal Championship in 22 seconds to Goldberg, and the US title could be that prize. Also, with Fozzy hitting the road in May, Jericho’s likely leaving very soon, and so there’s no point in keeping the belt on him anyway.
Add in the fact that a heel victory will give the WrestleMania card some added balance, and Owens beating Jericho—as painful as it may be—starts to look like a must for ‘Mania.
