10 Things We Never Thought We Would See In WWE In The 2010s

9. Christian As World Heavyweight Champion

It is no secret that Vince McMahon has never been particularly fond of Christian. Despite his immense popularity as a singles star in 2005, the boss simply couldn't see him as a main event player, which is why his WWE Championship run that year was so brief and why he went on to do next to nothing on the SmackDown brand before leaving on his own terms that fall. He captured the NWA World Heavyweight Championship on two separate occasions while with TNA, but he has gone on record in saying he didn't truly feel like he won "the big one" until he returned to WWE. Upon coming back to the company in 2009, he was mainly positioned as an upper-midcard competitor on the ECW and SmackDown brands, but struck gold (literally and figuratively) when Edge retired in April 2011. It was under terrible circumstances, sure, but had Edge not hung up his boots for good due to injury, Christian would have never won the World Heavyweight Championship. He just happened to be in the right place at the right time. His first run with the title lasted all of two days, and his second stint wasn't much longer, but at the very least, we got a great feud with Randy Orton out of it. And he can call himself a former WWE world champion, something fans would have never imagined a decade or so ago.
