10 Things Wrestling Fans Found Too Distracting

4. Michael Cole's Heel Commentary

Speaking of something that crapped all over the product, it's Michael Cole's heel commentary!

Now, don't get the wrong idea here. Cole could be solid in the villainous announcer role, but he directly failed to find any balance. Rather than learning from colour greats like Jesse Ventura or Bobby Heenan, MC tried to become a heel play-by-play man who constantly sh*t all over what fans were watching.

It wasn't a good idea, and Cole's trolling narration actually ended up detracting from the product and making fans care less about some of the characters. Other times, especially when Mikey was ripping into "boring vegan" Daniel Bryan or calling NXT bouts the worst he'd ever seen, were just plain bad.

Cole went a little overboard with his schtick and ended up hurting WWE's plans as a result. Someone must've been getting a kick out of his brutal putdowns though, otherwise he wouldn't have been allowed to continue them. In fairness to Michael, he was only doing as he was told, but he diverted attention from what mattered.
