10 Things WWE Actually Got Right In 2019

6. Kevin Owens Banishes Shane McMahon

Sure, this was a solution to a problem very much of the company’s own making. After all, Shane McMahon is actually a very capable television performer in either the face or heel role. He’s also capable, with the help of smoke and mirrors, of pulling off entertaining matches, despite having the cardio fitness level of an arthritic badger.

The trouble is WWE, despite a stacked roster vying for screen time, allowed McMahon to dominate TV so much that fans became utterly sick of ‘The Best In The World.’ They also booked him as a guy who could hang with Roman Reigns, rather than as a weasel who gets by on short cuts, cheating and hiding behind bigger buddies. Plus he pretty much neutered The Miz’s babyface run before it began by winning on back to back pay-per-views via screwy finishes.

So when it finally happened, fans were delighted to see Shane O’Mac banished from our screens. Kevin Owens, armed with the stunner and a new man of the people persona, was the perfect guy to do it too. Of course WWE can be quick to retcon these kind of Loser Leaves Town stipulations but so far, so good, and there’s been no sign of the ageing ‘Boy Wonder’ since.
