10 Things WWE Actually Got Right In 2019

5. Seth Rollin’s WrestleMania

It’s hard to remember now, but at the time we all really wanted this. People were desperate for someone to take the Universal Title off part time champ Brock Lesnar. Despite everything there was still a lingering “anyone but Roman” sentiment in a section of the fanbase and a cautious but more generous “let’s not rush Roman back to the title picture just yet” feeling amongst the rest of us.

Meanwhile, Shield favourite and respected workhorse Rollins was a popular choice of Royal Rumble winner. Along with Kofi Kingston and Becky Lynch, ‘Monday Night Rollins’ made up a triumvirate of potential feel good, fan favourite victories at WrestleMania. Fan consensus at the time was that we wouldn’t get all three. When we did, we were delighted.

It’s not just that WWE gave Seth the victory, it was the nature of that victory and its position on the card. ‘The Beast, and ‘The Architect delivered a short, sharp shock of a match that gave the crowd a jolt of energy after the pre-show battle royals, to get the show proper off to a flying start.
