10 Things WWE Actually Got Right In 2019
3. The Rey Mysterio/Brock Lesnar feud
The week of SmackDown’s Fox debut was an absolutely crucial one for WWE and for the most part they completely dropped the ball. They wanted to deliver a memorable week of television, with new sets, big matches and a flying visit from The Rock but most of that has been forgotten now, the memories washed away by a tidal wave of b*llshit at that Sunday’s Hell In A Cell pay-per-view.
That week did at least manage to deliver the start of one entertaining feud. It bridged Raw and SmackDown, scraped through Saudi Arabia and ran all the way to Survivor Series without losing steam.
Throughout we got some career best promos from Rey Mysterio, given solid motivation for revenge and cast as the kind of fiery babyface WWE sorely lacks for the most part.
The whole thing led to a typically brief but fun Brock vs. Little Guy match at Survivor Series complete with a double 619 spot. The result was a forgone conclusion but everyone involved did enough for us to buy into that Dominick assisted pin attempt.
More of this sort of thing please.
