10 Things That WWE (Almost) Always Messes Up

10. Women€™s Storylines

If one were to look at the storylines involving the female talent, the stories are seldom truly unique, fresh or otherwise innovative. AJ Lee had a great storyline as the €˜crazy chick€™ throughout 2012 and in 2013 she did a good story involving being better than the Total Divas. But that€™s pretty much it; there haven€™t been any other good women€™s storylines in the WWE for a long time. There have been the token lesbian angles (Trish Stratus and Mickie James, HLA and Kharma), or sometimes the women simply had no storylines or character development whatsoever. It is almost always about jealousy, vindictiveness and acting like spoiled teenage girls. At other times, there are barely any storylines at all. Just look at the current state of affairs: most of the Divas have just one name (no last name), and their feuds are barely given any depth or interesting development. The only major women€™s feud is the one between Brie and Nikki Bella, and fewer and fewer fans are really that emotionally invested in a rivalry between two sisters who also star on a reality show. Meanwhile, the remaining divas, like Paige, Naomi, Emma and others, just have matches with one another without explanation or follow-up. What WWE really needs to do is re-vamp the division NXT-style. Some of the best women€™s feuds and matches are on NXT, yet that show seldom gets any advertisement on the major shows, despite having better wrestling than SmackDown, which was once called the wrestling show. If WWE gives the women more time and with more in-depth storylines, fans would care more and invest in the matches emotionally like they used to.
