10 Things WWE Did Right At Fastlane

2. Rusev Continues To Look Like A Monster By Beating Cena

Rusev beat John Cena in a twenty minute match that was a physical battle between two men at different points in their careers. Rusev is an ascending star that WWE likely wants to turn into a main event player this year. Cena's being presented like somebody that might not be as be as great as he was, but they like to remind us that he's still the man. This "old man Cena" stuff seems unnecessary because 37 years old really isn't that old. Maybe if he was in his early 40s that's something that they can use in stories, but he's far from somebody that is past his prime. When Ric Flair debuted in WWE in 1991 he was older than Cena is, yet he was presented like a top guy. Stop it with the "old man" aspect of this story. They each hit some impressive power moves. Rusev is a really strong guy while we know Cena has done a lot of feats of strengths in his career. Rusev hit a nice Powerbomb to counter the Cena leg drop at one point that was reminiscent of Cena hurt his neck against Batista, but there were no problems here. There was something that bothered me too: Cena's talking. Cena has always been one of the worst guys in terms of calling spots that get picked up by the microphone, but this was one of the worst instances of it. Please be more subtle, John. You're better than that. WWE will continue the Cena/Rusev storyline for WrestleMania with Cena likely getting the win there. Look for more of an America vs. Russia story too. Cena can't let his country down. It's the Rocky 4 story.
