10 Things About WWE You Didn't Get Until You Were Older

3. DX Really Likes Water Guns

DX were known to push the envelope about as far as it could possibly be pushed and they were far from subtle about it. It will not be suggested here that kids didn€™t understand what was being talked about when Hunter and Shawn would tell everyone in sight to "suck it". Considering that they pointed directly towards their crotch, it€™s safe to say that EVERYONE knew what €˜it€™ was. But there were so many other jokes that were, mercifully, meant just for the older fans that were never picked up on by the fans. While the WWE had a hard time getting toy companies on board as advertisers in the late €˜90s because of the raunchy nature of the content, they did manage to team up with the Super Soaker water gun company. In an instance of truly questionable product placement, the members of DX made use of these children€™s toys to suggestively squirt fluid into the crowd, often aiming at scantly clad female members of the audience. Naturally, the water guns were held at crotch level. As a kid, you might have thought that they were just pretending to €˜pee,€™ but once you figured things out, you realized just how filthy this visual gag was.

I am a writer and stand-up comedian living in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I didn't witness the Bret Hart screw job in person, but I did watch the Breaking Point PPV live and that was terrible it its own way. I am dangerously obsessed with professional wrestling and its surrounding culture. I am the current ring announcer for a local fed called the IWS. I got to introduce Tommy Dreamer a while back. My head almost exploded. I am a mark, and proud of it. I also co-host a podcast called Go Plug Yourself, which has featured quite a few local wrestlers and even Mick Foley. Speaking of the Mickster, I once got to be his warmup act when he was in town for comiccon. My head actually exploded that time. I've recovered... sort of.
