During the intro for this piece, it was reasoned that Sting vs. The Undertaker existed as the one match fans wanted the WCW icon to have upon joining WWE.

In the 1990's, magazines were sold on the premise of who would win such a fantasy affair, but it has never quite happened.

When Sting signed for WWE in late-2013, it seemed inevitable. Excitement began to build, but the announcement would never come. Instead, the Stinger faced off firstly against Triple H, before contesting a WWE Title bout with Seth Rollins in 2015.

Inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame in 2016, he then announced his in-ring retirement.

This eliminates any chance of seeing the one bout thousands craved for many years. Undertaker himself isn't getting any younger, and it looks like 2015 was the final opportunity to make the clash happen.

As WCW fell to pieces in 2001, swallowed up by WWE, people surely believed Sting would sign and then collide with Undertaker. Instead, he spent a lengthy period in TNA, wrestled a few WWE matches and then rode off into the sunset...
