10 Things WWE Fans Expected To See In 2017 (But Didn't)
3. Another Universal Title Reign For Finn Bálor
Take a quick look at yourself in the nearest mirror. You, dear reader, were robbed of seeing some brilliant matches during the second half of 2016. Those were classics you richly deserved, just like one Finn Bálor deserved the chance to display his talents to the world as part of WWE's headline scene.
Injury stole Bálor's dreams within 24 hours, and he was forced to vacate the Universal Title on Raw the night following SummerSlam '16. Since returning full time shortly after WrestleMania 33, the Irishman has engaged in an interminable feud against Bray Wyatt and has barely come close to World Title glory again.
WWE should put this right in 2018, and realise that 2017 was a wasted year for someone who scrapped his way to the top of the ladder for years. He may be small in stature and resemble a Cruiserweight compared to WWE's traditional ideal of a headliner, but Bálor's in-ring skill justifies another chance to be the man on Raw.
