10 Things WWE Fans Have To Look Forward To In 2018
3. Survivor Series
So, last year's edition was quite insane, occupying opposing ends of WWE's stupidly inconsistent spectrum.
On one, WWE delivered two unique matches that bordered on elusive 'Dream' territory. The Shield vs. The New Day, while proving that WWE is incapable of subtle character dynamics - the New Day leaned into the heel role because Roman Reigns, the actual heel, stood on the opposite side of the ring - it nonetheless was very good, and delivered in its remit of creating a sense of occasion. All six guys wrestled and were received as stars. AJ Styles sold incredibly well for Brock Lesnar in an awesome spectacle; the Phenomenal One extracted so much drama from what was a simplistic template because he understands the minutiae of pro wrestling more than most in a stacked international scene.
On the other, Triple H set himself at least five potential WrestleMania matches by building the match entirely around himself - and then bantered them all off, to a man, by hilariously putting himself forward as Ronda Rousey's first WrestleMania opponent. Those that weren't targeted for April - the guys we're meant to get behind as future World Champions - entered really depressing glorified cameos before The Game - it was all about The Game - put an unceremonious boot into them.
The whole event was of course orchestrated by mind-numbing, plot hole-ridden TV fuelled by brand "warfare" the subservient goofs pretended to care about for three weeks - but that, ironically, is part of the "fun"...
