9. She Managed Curt Hennig In The AWA
Madusa got her start in the AWA because she trained with a guy named Eddie Sharkey in the Minneapolis area where the AWA was based out of. She won the AWA Women's Title and also became the manager of WWE Hall of Famer Curt Hennig, who later became known as Mr. Perfect in WWE. Hennig held the AWA Title for over a year while Madusa held the Women's Title for under a year. Both of them are known more for what they did in other companies, but it's fair to say that they benefited from working together. She spoke about how great of a performer Hennig was in a recent interview: "I have learned that men in pro wrestling are very narcissistic. And even back then, in a good way, he was Mr Perfect. He really was. He was a joy to work with, and to watch that man and the mechanicals, and to watch his way of working, it was almost mysterious. He was amazing, and he was never short of cracking a joke. We got along very well, there wasnt anything but brother and sisterhood when I worked with him." The duo were also paired up with Diamond Dallas Page at one point in the AWA as well. Madusa went on to win the Pro Wrestling Illustrated Rookie of the Year award in 1988 as well for her work in the AWA. She was the first woman to win that award, which dates back to 1972.
