10 Things WWE Fans Need To Know About Austin Aries

9. Aries Has Been Wrestling Since The Turn Of The Millennium

Since the halcyon days of the year 2000, a lot has changed in World Wrestling Entertainment and pro wrestling a whole. Both WCW and ECW withered to dust, consigned to the history books and left as little more than fan memories relying on the WWE Network to keep both relevant today. In November of that year, Austin Aries made his debut. Trained primarily by former AWA star Eddie Sharkey, the early 20-something fledling grappler settled in well to the North American independent circuit. Earning a reputation for matches against the likes of Christopher Daniels and others, Aries then made his way to Ring Of Honor in 2004. There, the man experienced a lot of success. It was around this time that fans on the internet started discussing Aries as someone WWE should be looking at, although some disclosed worries that his smaller stature (the man is 5ft 8 inches) might hold him back. Now, Aries can boast over 15 years of experience.
