10 Things WWE Fans Need To Know About Austin Aries
8. Worked Wonders With Samoa Joe And AJ Styles Before
Whilst in Ring Of Honor, Aries managed to become ROH World Champion twice. His first reign started in December, 2004, and upon winning the title Austin became only the 4th champ in the history of the title. At Final Battle, Aries defeated none other than Samoa Joe, ending his incredible 645 day reign with the belt. Aries wouldn't have quite as lengthy a run with the title, lasting 174 days before he was vanquished by CM Punk at Death Before Dishonor III. Years later, following some time spent in TNA, he would return and once again be handed the top prize in ROH. This time it was victory over Jerry Lynn and Tyler Black (Seth Rollins) that captured the title. Fast-forward to a second run in TNA, and the new WWE signing was clashing regularly with another. Most memorably, Aries and AJ Styles had a stirring match during a special 'No Surrender' episode of Impact Wrestling in September, 2013. Hopes must be high that both men will meet again, this time under the WWE banner.
