When Lynch arrived in NXT in 2013, she hadn't wrestled in five years, having spent most of her time post-injury managing and acting. She was inspired to chase the ultimate wrestling dream because of the success of another Irish wrestler: the Celtic Warrior, Sheamus. I want to make the most of this opportunity, Lynch said in an interview when she was first offered a developmental deal. Sheamus has shown that Irish pro-wrestlers can go all the way to the top. Sheamus was, indeed, the first Irish-born WWE Champion; in a sport with such a long history of manufacturing nationalities (during the early days of Vincent K. McMahon's company, the Irish guy was supposed to be Hulk Hogan) it's only recently that fans have seen true international stars succeed, as opposed to just bad accents and cliched accouterments. Now, between Sheamus, Finn Balor and Lynch herself, the sky may be the limit for WWE's Irish invasion.
