10 Things WWE Fans Need To Know About Buddy Landel

2. His WWE Run - And Career - Was Cut Short By Injury

Landel's run in the WWE was short, but that wasn't his doing. He would debut on RAW on December 18th 1995, shortly after his promotional debut just weeks earlier, defeating Hardcore Holly, and piled up a few wins against the likes of Chris Michaels and Matt Hardy on various WWF programs. He also appeared at WWF In Your House 5: Season's Beatings, where he lost to Ahmed Johnson. A promising start - but it was quickly cut short by injury. He suffered a serious tear to his right quadriceps early on in his WWF run, and was out of action for six months. Although he would return, he wrestled just a few more matches for the promotion. He would go on to work for IWA Mid-South, NWA, and even OVW, as well as having a few more matches for the WWF in the late 90s and doing a few indy shows later in life, but for all intents and purposes, his life as a full time performer ended with that injury. Landel would also do commentary in the mid-2000s for the NWA Rocky Top promotion in Knoxville.
