10 Things WWE Fans Need To Know About Chris Hero
1. A Long-Term Asset
As good as Chris Hero is between the ropes, WWE aren’t just bringing in a great wrestler here. His immediate future lies in the ring, but WWE have just an acquired an incredible asset who will continue to benefit the company long after his wrestling days are over, assuming they keep him around.
Hero is widely regarded as one of the best minds in the business. Anyone who’s ever heard him talk about the sport can attest to his passion and knowledge for it, and his track record speaks for itself. He’s a tremendous example for any young wrestler to follow, and his presence will only benefit WWE’s greener, less experienced workers.
Furthermore, Hero already has immense experience as a coach. He spent some time as Chikara’s lead trainer in the mid-00s, and regularly holds seminars and training sessions when not competing in the ring. Current WWE wrestlers Lince Dorado, Tommy End, and Drew Gulak stand among his most famous trainees along with a host of other major independent names, and a Performance Center coaching position surely awaits when Hero’s wrestling days are done.
He might be 36, but Hero could conceivably be part of WWE’s system for decades to come. It’s an incredibly smart move for both parties, and if all goes to plan, the Hero/WWE relationship should benefit everyone from the lowliest NXT trainee to Vince McMahon himself.
